Meigs County is the quiet one.

Tucked between the bigger counties to the east and west, Meigs is rural Tennessee at its most unhurried — farmland, river bends, and small communities where the loudest thing on a summer evening is the cicadas. Decatur, the county seat, is a classic courthouse-square town. That's the commercial center. That tells you most of what you need to know.

Who moves to Meigs County? People who want land and quiet more than they want convenience. Folks with animals, or who want animals. Buyers priced out of the counties closer to Knoxville who'd rather have acreage than a subdivision lot. People who've lived in the country all their lives and want to stay in it.
