This one's personal. Oliver Springs is my home turf. My son goes to school here. I know these roads, these trails, and these people. It's a small town with a big backyard, and if you like the outdoors, you'll never be bored.
I'm David Millard with Real Estate Concepts. Here's how locals actually spend their weekends in Oliver Springs.
The big one. Windrock Park at 599 Windrock Park Lane is the largest privately owned off-road recreation area in the country. Over 73,000 acres and 300-plus miles of trails for ATVs, side-by-sides, and mountain bikes. There's a campground on site too. People come from all over the country to ride here, and it's ten minutes from my front door. Even if you don't ride, the events and the trailhead energy are worth seeing.
At 530 Kingston Avenue. A community park with picnic areas and open space. Good for family cookouts and a quiet afternoon outside.
Off Fritts Road. Another local green space for walking, playing, and getting the kids outside.
Oliver Springs was a resort town built around its mineral springs in the late 1800s, and the downtown still shows it. Early-1900s homes with mature trees and classic architecture line the streets. Walk it on a fall afternoon and you'll see why people fall for this town.
Frozen Head State Park is close by with some of the best hiking in Tennessee. Oak Ridge is 15 minutes east for restaurants, shopping, and the American Museum of Science and Energy. Watts Bar Lake is within easy reach. Knoxville is about 30 minutes.
The historic Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Petros — a maximum-security prison from 1896 to 2009, once home to James Earl Ray. Today it's one of Tennessee's most unique attractions: self-guided tours through the cell blocks, concerts in the Yard, The Warden's Table restaurant, and the Brushy Mountain Distillery pouring End of the Line Moonshine. About 30 minutes from Oliver Springs.

I live here, so I'm biased. But the honest answer: if you want small-town life, outdoor recreation at your doorstep, and home prices that still make sense, Oliver Springs is hard to beat. Read why I call it East Tennessee's best kept real estate secret.
