If you're moving to Lenoir City with kids, here's what you need to know first: there are TWO school districts serving the area, and your street address decides which one you get.
I'm David Millard with Real Estate Concepts. I help relocating families land in the right school zone every month.
Lenoir City Schools is the city's own independent school district, separate from Loudon County Schools. It has been its own system since the city was chartered in 1907.
The district runs three schools:
District office: 200 East Broadway, Lenoir City. Phone: (865) 986-8058.
Here's what surprises relocators. Parts of Lenoir City are zoned for Loudon County Schools, not Lenoir City Schools. Loudon County operates Eaton Elementary, Highland Park Elementary, and North Middle School inside the Lenoir City area, and both of those elementaries post strong test scores.
So a Lenoir City mailing address can mean either district. The only thing that decides it is the specific street address. This is exactly the kind of detail you verify before you write an offer, not after.
Yes. Lenoir City Schools has been an independent city district since 1907, with an elementary, a middle school, and a high school. But parts of Lenoir City are zoned for Loudon County Schools instead.
Check the specific street address with the district office at (865) 986-8058 for Lenoir City Schools or (865) 458-5411 for Loudon County Schools. The mailing address alone won't tell you.
On the Loudon County side, Eaton Elementary and Highland Park Elementary consistently post above-average proficiency scores. Lenoir City High performs around the state average.
Loudon County allows out-of-zone enrollment when there is space, but you must provide transportation. Don't buy a house counting on it. Buy for the zoned school.
Lake access, a growing restaurant and retail scene, and a 25-minute drive to Knoxville make it a strong value play for families. The two-district setup just means you do your homework on the address.
A note on school zones: Attendance zones change, and a Lenoir City mailing address does not guarantee a particular school or even a particular district. Always verify zoning directly with the school district before buying. I am not a school official, and this guide is not a substitute for the district's official zone maps.
