If schools are driving your home search, Farragut is probably already on your list. Here's what you need to know before you buy.
I'm David Millard with Real Estate Concepts. Farragut buyers ask me about schools more than anything else. This is the straight version.
Farragut is served by Knox County Schools, and the Farragut school cluster is one of the most requested in the county.
Farragut Primary School (grades PK-2) on North Campbell Station Road. This is where the youngest kids start.
Farragut Intermediate School (grades 3-5) on West End Avenue. The intermediate step before middle school.
Farragut Middle School (grades 6-8), also on West End Avenue. Consistently strong performance.
Farragut High School (grades 9-12) on Kingston Pike. One of the top-rated high schools in the Knoxville area, with strong academics and athletics.
Important: school zones don't always follow town lines. Some Farragut addresses zone to nearby schools like A.L. Lotts Elementary or Hardin Valley schools. Never assume. I'll verify zoning for any house you're serious about.
Schools are the headline, but there's more. Farragut has some of the lowest crime rates in Knox County. Turkey Creek shopping means you rarely need to drive far for anything. Fort Loudoun Lake access for boaters. And the whole town is well-kept, from the landscaping to the roads.
The tradeoff is price. Farragut costs more than most surrounding areas. You're paying for the schools, the safety, and the convenience. Most buyers here consider it worth it.
Fox Den. Golf course community, established, one of Farragut's signature neighborhoods. Larger lots, mature trees.
Concord and the lakefront areas. Near Fort Loudoun Lake. Boaters and water views. Some of the priciest real estate in town.
Turkey Creek corridor. Close to shopping and dining. Convenient for commuters who want everything nearby.
North Farragut subdivisions. Newer construction, family-friendly streets, often a better value than the lakefront side.
Farragut runs above the Knoxville-area median. You're paying a premium for the schools and the location. Property taxes are Knox County rates. Tennessee has no state income tax, which softens the blow.
New construction keeps coming, especially north of town. Resale homes in established neighborhoods hold value well because demand for the school zone never really drops.
Downtown Knoxville runs about 20 to 25 minutes. Oak Ridge is roughly 25 to 30 minutes via the interstate. The airport is close, which frequent travelers appreciate.
Farragut Primary (PK-2), Farragut Intermediate (3-5), Farragut Middle (6-8), and Farragut High School (9-12), all part of Knox County Schools. Always verify zoning for a specific address, because some Farragut addresses zone to nearby schools.
It's one of the best in the Knoxville area. Top-rated schools, low crime, parks, shopping, and lake access. The main tradeoff is higher home prices than surrounding areas.
Expect a noticeable premium over the Knoxville median, especially near the lake and in established neighborhoods like Fox Den. North Farragut and newer subdivisions offer better value while keeping the school zone.
No. Farragut schools are part of Knox County Schools. There is no separate Farragut district, which is a common misconception among relocators.
Not necessarily. School zones are drawn by the county, not the town boundary. Some addresses outside town limits zone to Farragut schools, and some inside don't. Verify every address.
