Lenoir City Weekend Guide: Lakes, Barbecue and Small-Batch Beer
Lenoir City sits where I-40 meets I-75, between two lakes and twenty minutes from Knoxville. This weekend is for lake people, beer people, and anyone scouting a move to the loud side of Loudon County. Come hungry.
Day One: Downtown and the Barrel House
Morning: Start at Lenoir City Park at 5200 City Park Drive, right by Fort Loudoun Marina. Walk the trail, watch the boats, get your bearings on the lake.
Afternoon: Walk the Town Creek Greenway, a 1.75-mile paved trail connecting Broadway to the middle school. Then head downtown.
Evening: Tennessee Brew Works Lenoir City Barrel House at 200 East Depot Street. The Nashville brewery's East Tennessee taproom opened in August 2026 with small-batch beers, a full menu, and live music. This is the anchor of the whole weekend.
Day Two: Lake Day
Morning: Breakfast at Master Donuts on East Broadway, then drive the lake. Tellico Lake and Fort Loudoun Lake both touch Lenoir City. Put in at the Lenoir City Park boat ramp or just find a shoreline pull-off.
Afternoon: Fort Loudoun State Historic Park is a short drive south. A reconstructed 1756 British fort on the lake. Worth the trip even if history is not your thing, because the setting is.
Evening: Dinner on the water at Calhoun's Lenoir City on City Park Drive, dockside. Barbecue, steaks, and sunset over the lake.
Where to Stay
Chain hotels cluster along Highway 321 and I-75. If you are here for the lake, look at vacation rentals on Tellico Lake. You are twenty minutes from West Knoxville either way.
Good to Know
Parking: Free at the park, the greenway, and downtown. The Barrel House has its own lot.
Timing: The lakes are busiest on summer weekends. The Barrel House draws a crowd on Friday and Saturday nights. Go early.

About twenty minutes southwest via I-75 or I-40. Close enough for dinner, far enough for lake life.
Can you swim in Tellico Lake?
Yes. It is a TVA reservoir with public access points, including Lenoir City Park. Watch for boat traffic near the ramps.
