Farragut Weekend Guide: Parks, Shopping and Lake Days

Farragut packs a lot into a suburb. World-class parks, the biggest shopping corridor in West Knox County, and Fort Loudoun Lake right at its doorstep. This weekend mixes all three.

Day One: Parks and Play

Morning: Start at McFee Park, 917 McFee Road. It has the area's biggest public splash pad, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, and shaded pavilions. In summer, the splash pad is the move for kids.

Afternoon: Walk Founder's Park at Campbell Station, 405 North Campbell Station Road. Paved trails, sculptures, and pavilions named for the two generals of the Battle of Campbell Station. Then hit Turkey Creek for shopping and lunch.

Evening: Topgolf at 11400 Outlet Drive for dinner and bays, or catch a movie and dinner along Kingston Pike.

Day Two: Sports, Ice and the Lake

Morning: Mayor Bob Leonard Park at 301 Watt Road. Fifty acres of sports fields, walking trails, and a pond with a pier. Named for Farragut's first mayor.

Afternoon: Anchor Park at 11730 Turkey Creek Road has a fishing pond and piers, or try Cool Sports at 110 Watts Road for public ice skating.

Evening: Sunset on Fort Loudoun Lake. Put in at a public ramp or just find a shoreline spot. The sunsets over the water from the Farragut side are hard to beat.

Where to Stay

The Turkey Creek corridor has the most hotel options, all within minutes of the parks and shopping. Book near Kingston Pike and Campbell Station Road for the shortest drives.

Good to Know

Parking: Free at all town parks. Turkey Creek lots fill up on Saturday afternoons.

Best timing: Hit McFee Park's splash pad early on summer weekends. It gets busy by noon.
